It is a container made of tin that is thin and can be freely bent like paper.
It brings enjoyment by being able to freely shape it to suit your dishes.
Tin is inherently weak and fragile. However, by being rolled many times, it
becomes thinner and at the same time, the strength increases.Furthermore,
by striking a tin plate repeatedly with a hammer, not only can patterns be
created, but it is also possible to create a plate that can be bent freely, though
it is a metal equipped with strength that can endure repeated bending.
"syouryu" is a proprietary brand of Shimatani-syouryu Studio, which has specialized in producing standing bells for temples since its establishment in 1909.
In our studio, there are three "standing bell craftsmen" of the fewer than 10 craftsmen across Japan, and by "striking with a hammer", we create standing bells by squeezing the board, rounding it out, and tuning the sound."Tin paper" was born by this "hammer striking" technique.
